Temporal Lobe

The Geography of Thought
Just like people, no two brains are identically alike. But all brains have the same architecture and one of the most distinctive features of this amazing organ is its surface appearance. The deep fissures, or “sulci,” and bumps, or “gyri,” divide up the four lobes of the cerebral cortex.

Each lobe, like each hemisphere, has a right and left side and each lobe has a different function.

Temporal Lobe: Hearing abilities; works with the frontal lobe to integrate memories; musical awareness and sequencing of objects skills; Wernicke’s Area in left side of lobe gets meaning from words and sentences and converts ideas to speech.
